The Hunt for Red (lipstick in) October
October 6th 2007 07:33
Well I've finally done it. For years I have been thinking about it, reading about it and looking at it with wonder, and last night I finally succumbed. Yes people, I bought my first ever red lipstick.
It was very exciting and frightening (good god! I thought, Will I actually be able to pull it off?) looking for a red lipstick for the first time, as I have always been a natural make-up and nude shade of lipstick kind of girl. I always insisted that there would be none of those siren red lips for me - no way - I would look ridiculous - like a try-hard clown-like tart!
However, thanks to a lovely lad in a certain department store, I have now been shown the light...
It turns out I can wear red lipstick, even though I thought with my pale skin and green eyes I would look completely tarty/hooker like and be asked "how much?" on my way home.
The trick is to get a shade that makes your teeth look white -a blue based shade is the way to go - and to wear heaps of mascara with a little eye liner and natural shades on the eyes. I definitely will be saving my red look for night, with a fabulous outfit of course - it does look a little strange with casual clothes.
I say go forth ladies and get hunting for that perfect shade of red for you. You will feel glamorous and grown-up and you will look amazing.
